Meet Francesca

Francesca Gacho, PhD

I am an immigrant scholar of color, born and raised in the Philippines and educated in the United States—from community college, to a state college, to a private graduate institution, and finally to a postdoctoral fellowship at a research-intensive university.

My educational journey has fueled my curiosity in unraveling how different knowledge communities express themselves. Thanks to my experiences, I have developed a knack for helping authors navigate the intricate world of academic writing.

My teaching style is heavily influenced by Writing Across the Curriculum/in the Disciplines (WAC/WID) which is focused on rhetorical awareness and disciplinary conventions. A non-native English speaker myself, I get the linguistic and discursive hurdles others face when writing in a foreign tradition. I apply this expertise to my work with authors whose manuscripts span broadly across the humanities and social sciences disciplines.

Over the past ten years, I've worn various hats—graduate writing coach, community college instructor, freelance copyeditor, and book editor for a small publishing company. Whether you're a seasoned author or just starting out, I'm here to help transform your writing journey. Let's turn your ideas into engaging stories that resonate with readers!
